panel as if your telephones or electrical in your
home or office is not grounded to today's standards
your alarm will take the lightning strike or surge
harder than any of your other appliances in your
home that do not have a third pin plug ground on
them. You can provide extra protection to your alarm
by plugging it into a computer battery backup, That
will give you much more backup time as well as take
any surges that may come through the electrical
system of your building. Lightning is simple as if
the panel is not grounded then the strike will go to
other areas of your buildings ground rather than
taking out your alarm system.
